There are women one should better not contradict. Suzy Menkes is one of them. The three-meter high fashion journalist with a two-meters wide ass is one of them. She has an inexhaustible knowledge of fashion.
But we just can’t share her judgment about the Dries van Noten S/S 2013 show. We are setting an objection. After she described the latest work of Belgian designer with the weighty word “outstanding”. Dries van Noten has been exploring the theme of camouflage for Spring/Summer 2013.
Too late, unfortunately. Two seasons late. Not even the original implementation of Van Noten’s of any help. He had his camouflage printed partly blurred on pants and jackets. He took hardness of the camouflage pattern.
But the idea of abstract, easily blurred, to be more precise, camouflage isn’t really new. The Danish label Wood Wood has already showed a smudged camouflage pattern at Spring/Summer 2012 in February. Suzy Menkes’ article Beauty From the Bellicose is, of course, still worth reading.
She also writes about JUUN.J and Junya Watanabe. The latter also shows the camouflage pattern like every season because Watanabe is, after all, famous for it. It is his pattern.
