Maison Martin Margiela is a holy expression in the world of fashion. A label that became globally famous through “avant-garde-intellectual collections”. However, what is left of that image and that fame-laden past? Not too much unfortunately. The Maison Martin Margiela Spring/Summer 2014 collection is remarkably plain and without any innovative ideas.
The eternal phantom Martin Margiela has allegedly left already ages ago, but since the Diesel group has incorporated the Belgian label there has been a remarkable lack of ideas. No to Innovation!
A skirt attached to the pants doesn’t change that fact either as Suzy Menkes writes in her article Flowers and Power: “But adding apron skirts to regular suits does not a message make.”
