Nicola Formichetti is the new Artistic Director at DIESEL

After Nicola Formichetti lost both of his most important jobs in a very short time (Creative Director at MUGLER; Fashion Director at VOGUE HOMMES JAPAN) you could almost see the jet-setting Lady Gaga stylist at the local job center. But now DIESEL snatched him, very surprisingly. As of now, Formichetti is the new Artistic Director, or, “Commander-in-Chief of the Brave Army” (kind of a cool job title again!).

In the press release Formichetti has himself quoted very promising and a little cocky:

“We will tear everything down to re-build something even bigger. It’s my wish that the young, creative people all over the world become part of this process.”

Further it says:

“Nicola Formichetti will directly start his new role with the project DIESELREBOOT. He is planning to mobilise a currently non-exisiting creative community to help him realize the project. It will take place in the wild, uncivilized and always accessible space of TUMBLR, and has already gone live.
In addition, Nicola will be curating all creative activities of Diesel’s core business – including the areas of: product, communication, and interior design. He will be injecting his own interpretation into the Diesel “way of living” – unpredictable, original, funny. He’ll be managing the Diesel Creative Team and all new incoming starters from different areas.”

We’re absolutely looking forward to what’s ahead here – and very much appreciate DIESEL’s decision. After all, we do like Formichetti and our friends over at DIESEL who we had a crazy, crazy party with at the end of last year that Formichetti would definitely have enjoyed.
