New FAZ Supplement: A Lot of Fashion, A Lot of Street-Style, A Lot of Alfons Kaiser

Our new favorite newspaper, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) will be launching their new magazine supplement in one month exactly. It has the catchy name “Magazine” (German for magazine).

The editor in chief for the magazine will be FAZ-editor (Deutschland und die Welt), fashion connoisseur and unofficial godfather of DANDY DIARY: Dr. Alfons Kaiser.

Marketing Magazine W&V reports on the scope of the magazine. “The mix of topics primarily consists of fashion, design, travel, beauty, arts, and cuisine, also taking the classified ads section into account.”

Apart from the regular soft magazine subjects that are mainly supposed to attract lucrative ad customers from the fairly crisis-resistent luxury markets beauty and fashion (XL high gloss sells) there a lot of focus will be put on street style photos. According to Dr. Kaiser this cannot yet be found “systematically in magazine supplements”.

On the one hand the whole street style things is of course owed to the huge success of blogs such as “Sartorialist”. On the other hand it also just aligns a little with Dr. Kaiser’s own preferences. Our hero once said: “(…) of course I like to see women who are dressed well. It’s an aesthetic pleasure.”

We absolutely agree with him and are already looking forward to the first of eight issues, which will be part of the FAZ on the 23rd of February.

A first special edition that was presented at Berlin Fashion Week last week, can be downloaded here via PDF.
