Happy Birthday, Olivier Zahm!

Olivier Zahm, probably the most libertarian publisher of a fashion magazine from france, celebrates his birthday today.

We would like to congratulate him – even though we don’t know how old he gets (probably 49). But thats not the matter, since we all know, the social – not the biological – age is what it depends on. And Zahm is top notch in that field: we settled him in the post-grammar-school-boy-area. Which means his social age is somewhere around twen-age. We think that’s completely fine – and congratulate the great enlightener as sincere and naked as it’s possible:

Joyeux anniversaire, homme nu!

Is Hedi Slimane going to join Gucci?

Frida Giannini is going to leave GUCCI. The luxury-label is therefore looking for a new top-designer.

Who is going to be the successor of sexy Giannini, who’s collections for GUCCI were okay, but not revolutionary. The speculations have started. One name, that has been mentioned a lot: Hedi Slimane.

The man, who made SAINT LAURENT PARIS out of YVES SAINT LAURENT. Slimane did not receive choruses of praise by the critics for his commercial collections, but SLP raised their sales up to 28% in the last year under the guidance of Slimane.

SAINT LAURENT PARIS belongs, as GUCCI, to the Kering Group, who’s boss is François-Henri Pinault, therefore would the transition of Slimane be a familial act.

Besides Slimane, Riccardo Tisci, who still has an on-going contract with Givenchy, and Joseph Altuzara, have been mentioned. Kering has already invested in the label Altuzarra last year.

Frida Giannini is going to present her last show for GUCCI in february. Therefore there is not much time left for the search of a proper successor.

No-Go: Coat Slinging!

A few years ago, streetstyle-experts started wearing their jackets or coats around their shoulders, instead of putting their arms through their sleeves. The technical term for that is ‘coat slinging’.

Recently, the german newspaper BUNTE (!) reported about the styling-trend. ‘Coat slinging’ therefore officially became a ‘no-go’. So: dear friends with good taste, please stick your arms in your sleeves from now on.

Because a sleeve without an arm, is like Justin O’Shea without Veronika, like Cara Delevigne without eyebrows: somehow not complete.

In 2008, Scott Schuman (aka: The Sartorialist) has revealed the first case of ‘coat slinging’ on his blog, afterwards an epidemic broke out, from which the fashion-world still has not recovered.

It has been enough: put your jackets on properly again! Otherwise you appear like a gay fashion-journalist from 2010 (who would put his arms into sleeves nowadays)
