The Süddeutsche Zeitung translated the hate article by Suzy Menkes in which the grande dame of fashion journalism is badmouthing bloggers.
We think that is absolutely justified. We too, hate bloggers. Ourselves more than anyone else. But also the colleagues. Hate everywhere! Yeah!
Suzy writes (excerpt from the original article):
“The fuss around the shows now seems as important as what goes on inside the carefully guarded tents. It is as difficult to get in as it always was, when passionate fashion devotees used to appear stealthily from every corner hoping to sneak in to a Jean Paul Gaultier collection in the 1980s.”
Seriously: Suzy Menkes is talking about a subject here that every b-list blogger writes about semi-annually during Berlin Fashion Week – to be sure to get a lot of traffic. Hate-articles about bloggers always go down well with people. Yawn!
But who seriously rants about flamboyant bloggers in front of fashion week locations most probably also thinks horse meat jokes are funny.
The biggest joke about Suzy Menkes’ article however is: it is tbe most read, and most commented-on article of her career to date – thus proving her thesis that “The fuss around the shows now seems as important as what goes on inside the carefully guarded tents.”
